Product notification feedback questions

Identify which notifications prompt useful action and which arrive too often, too late, or without enough context.

Who to ask
Users who receive a specific notification category.
When to ask
After users have received several examples of that category.

Questions to adapt

  1. What do you usually do after receiving this notification?
  2. Does it arrive at a useful time?
  3. What context is missing?
  4. How often would it be useful?
  5. Which notifications would you combine or stop?

Use the answers

Classify notifications by the action they support. Improve timing and context for essential actions; consider grouping repeated informational updates. Test preference changes before applying them broadly.

Keep the research useful

Do not remove important account or service notices solely because a small group finds them inconvenient.

Collect the feedback in Formkii

Start a short survey with a clear introduction and a consistent reference period. Use choice questions where you need comparable categories and open text where the explanation matters. Preview the survey with someone who understands the task, then share the published link with the relevant participants. Review written answers alongside response counts, and export to CSV if you need to group themes in a spreadsheet.
